Antonello Manacorda

Mozart-Sinfonien bei Sony mit der Kammerakademie Potsdam

So now Mozart – after their successful recording of the complete Schubert and the likewise widely acclaimed Mendelssohn symphonies, which received an ECHO-Klassik, Antonello Manacorda and the Potsdam Chamber Academy are turning to the Salzburger’s last three symphonies, Symphony No. 39 Es- Major KV 543, the Symphony No. 40 in G minor KV 550 and the Symphony No. 41 in C major KV 551 “Jupiter”. These three are among Mozart’s most popular orchestral works. The Potsdamer’s goal is to give them a modern rejuvenation treatment under the baton of their long-time chief conductor. The recording will be released on September 24th.

“L’Africaine – Vasco da Gama” in Frankfurt

Antonello Manacorda will be conducting Giacomo Meyerbeer’s “L’Africaine – Vasco da Gama” at Oper Frankfurt. The Premiere takes place on February 25th, 2018.

Meyerbeer and his librettist Eugène Scribe busied themselves with the story of L’Africaine for almost 30 years but it was never finished. It was first performed in 1864, a year after Meyerbeer’s death, in an edition by François-Joseph Fétis and was performed all over the world. It was not until 2013 that Theater Chemnitz used Meyerbeer’s original manuscript as the basis for a rediscovery – under the title of Vasco de Gama. The first ever performances of the work in Frankfurt, directed by Tobias Kratzer using this reconstructed original edition, are under the original title of »L’Africaine«.
